KFA Holds AGM in Ridgetown

The Kent Federation of Agriculture is holding its annual meeting in Ridgetown today.  farming

 

The Ridgetown Campus of the University of Guelph will welcome farmers from across the municipality today starting at noon.

Two topics are being highlighted, property assessments and phosphorus.

Property values have climbed significantly over the last few years across Chatham-Kent, and the provincial government has cited a goal of a 40% reduction of phosphorus in lakes, rivers and streams.

Ivan O’Halloran and Tina Shankula will speak on the phosphorus issue, while OFA and MPaAC representatives will discuss farm property assessments.

A handful of awards are being handed out, as well.

The KFA Scholarship Awards to a trio of young women including Sarah Campbell and Elyise Kilbride.

The Meritorius Award goes to Bill Parks of Park’s Blueberries, and Ron Faubert will be recognized with the Campbell Memorial Award.
