It will be a few weeks longer before a roadway near Wallaceburg is reopened to traffic.
A section of Kimball Road has been shut down since mid-September for bridge work over Otter Creek.
Engineering Manager Brendan Falkner says the concrete deck has been poured and the remaining work includes the waterproofing of the deck, placement of asphalt, installation of guiderails and other site restoration.
“The existing abutment walls and concrete girders were still in good condition so only the concrete deck was planned to be replaced,” Falkner said in an email to CKXS News. “Once the contractor started to remove the exiting deck, it was found that the concrete deck was thicker than anticipated and it took longer to remove.”
The project was expected to be completed by December 5th, but municipal officials now say it will be closer to 23rd before the work is done.
