Lambton Public Health advising of pending Larviciding

Catch basin larviciding which is designed to control mosquito larvae and reduce incidents of West Nile virus in Lambton County is set to begin this week.

Mosquito larval surveillance has indicated the presence of mosquito larvae in catch basins across Lambton County. The St. Clair Regional Conservation Authority has been contracted to both do surveillance and apply larvicide under permit. It is placed in pellet form in catch basins.

Vehicles used to do the work will have a rooftop flashing yellow light and signs indicating West Nile virus program. The vehicles make frequent stops.

Lambton Public Health encourages residents to remove stagnant water around their properties, keep eaves clear of debris and drain water from containers or toys to assist in this measure to impede mosquito breeding.
