Chatham-Kent is poised to spend $1.4 million over the next five years to private lawn care businesses to cut grass on municipal property.
Sixteen bids were received for the lawn cutting contracts, with council voting to approve lawn cutting services at tonight’s council meeting. The municipality was spilt into 39 different zones for companies to bid on.
Six bids were rejected for being non-compliant with the purchasing by-law.
Due to the number of non-compliant bids received for the municipal grass cutting tender, administration will likely implement additional measures for future grass cutting tenders, such as initiating a training session or mandatory meeting with bidders, to help bidders ensure that their submitted bids will be compliant with the municipality’s purchasing processes.
