Three Leamington residents are facing a slew of charges after being pulled over by Chatham-Kent OPP.
The suspect was stopped for speeding on Communication Road just before 2 o’clock Sunday morning.
The driver failed a road-side breath test and was taken back to the local detachment. Officers also discovered a loaded handgun and illicit drugs.
The 30-year-old behind the wheel has been charged with impaired driving, and all three occupants of the vehicle are facing weapons and drug charges.
All three were held in custody for bail hearings.
The driver, a 30-year-old Leamington man is facing the following charges:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)
- Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm CC 95(a)
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm CC 94
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm CC 92(1)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1)
- Carrying concealed weapon CC 90
- Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition CC 86(1) (2 counts)
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose CC 88
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine CDSA 5(2)
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin) CDSA 4(1)
A 22-year-old Leamington woman is charged with:
- Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm CC 95(a)
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm CC 94
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm CC 92(1)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1)
- Carrying concealed weapon CC 90
- Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition CC 86(1)
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose CC 88
- Breach of Recognizance CC 811
A 25-year-old from Leamington is charged with:
- Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm CC 95(a)
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm CC 94
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm CC 92(1)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1)
- Carrying concealed weapon CC 90
- Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition CC 86(1)
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose CC 88
