Learning More About Hospice

Local residents are being given an inside look at work being done at the Chatham-Kent Hospice.

A community impact open house is being held tomorrow.

Foundation Executive Director Jodi Maroney even after three years in operation, there are still lots of questions about what the organization does.

“It’s an opportunity for the community to come in and ask us question sand learn more about hospice,” Maroney says. “There will be all sorts of information, you can learn about volunteering opportunities, you can ask us about donations, maybe you’ve unfortunately have someone who’s ill in your family and want to learn more about what that hospice option might look like, we’ll have people there you can talk to.”

In 2018 alone, 173 families across Chatham-Kent received end-of-life care at the hospice, free of charge. The organization now offers grief and bereavement services as well.

There are 199 active volunteers at the Hospice, who donated 13,500 hours of their time last year.

Tuesday’s open house runs from 4-7pm in the Katheryn Clements Hall at St Andrew’s Residence in Chatham.
