As the man behind Rick’s Ride for Hope recovers after being hit by a truck, his cause is being carried on.

Nick Cadotte, with the local branch of the Co-Operators is planning a BBQ in support of Rick Bernard and the Ronald McDonald House.

Bernard’s fundraising goal is $5,000, but Cadotte wants to beat that by a country mile.

“We wanted to make sure the community was aware of the BBQ. With the holiday Monday we were concerned we couldn’t raise enough money and have the awareness,” reveals Cadotte. “It’s a worthwhile cause and we wanted to make sure that this community realized this is going on and make sure that we are  helping the Ronald McDonald house as much as possible.”

Bernard was struck while riding last week and Cadotte says that just makes the fundraiser that much more important.

The BBQ goes from 11-1pm on Monday outside the radio station.
