Local Business in the Spotlight

Some of Chatham-Kent’s best and brightest in the business world have been honoured with two ceremonies last night in Chatham and Blenheim.

Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce president Gail Hundt says there’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes leading up to the awards.

“Nominations open up in the fall and they’re open for approximately three and a half months,” Hundt says. “There’s a panel of judges that do each of the awards, anonymously judge amongst themselves.”

Five awards were given out at the Chatham-Kent Chamber Business Excellence Awards:
Citizen of the Year – Carolyn Powers
Industry of the Year – Enviroshake
Business Professional – Tricia Xavier, Purple Pansy Flower Boutique
Entrepreneur of the Year – Fred Naclerio, Apollo Property Management
Youth Entrepreneur – Natalie Devolder

The Blenheim and District Chamber of Commerce handed out three awards:
Citizen of the Year – Jennifer Wilson
Agriculturalist of the Year – Platinum Produce
Entrepreneur of the Year – Cross Country Manufacturing
