Local COVID Cases Continue To Rise

A big jump in Chatham-Kent’s COVID cases on Thursday.

Public Health is reporting 25 new infections and seven recoveries, raising the total active caseload to 76.

There are eight patients at the Health Alliance being treated for COVID-19, including two in the ICU. Hospital officials say none of the COVID patients have been fully vaccinated, and the average age of those being treated for the virus is 55.

Provincially, there are 865 new cases today. Health Minister Christine Elliot says there are 320 people being treated for COVID-19 in hospitals across the province, and another 162 listed in intensive care.
