Local English Catholic Board Lays Out Capital Plans

The local English Catholic school board has outlined its to-do list for planned projects for the coming year.

An update to the St. Clair Catholic District School Board’s long-term capital plan for 2024-28 was presented to the Board of Trustees earlier this week. The capital plan provides background information for the board’s future capital needs and a framework for decision-making on facilities.

Among the planned projects is a complete facility review for Ursuline College Chatham and recommendations for future upgrades. The board also intends to sell off Georges P. Vanier and St. Ursula school buildings in Chatham, install portable classrooms at St. Teresa of Calcutta and St. Angela Merici, and review boundaries for French immersion schools in Chatham-Kent.

“Our commitment to transparency and excellence is at the heart of every decision we make,” said Amy Park, Associate Director of Corporate Services & Treasurer in a news release. “The Long-Term Capital Plan reflects not just our vision for the future, but also the dedication and hard work of our entire community over the years.”

The Long-Term Capital Plan is subject to funding approvals and Pupil Accommodation Review decisions by the Board of Trustees.
