As students at the University of Windsor celebrate their graduation next week, a very special honour is being bestowed upon a local historian.
Shannon Prince, the curator of the Buxton National Historic Site and Museum, will be given an honourary Doctor of Laws degree.
Prince is a sixth-generation descendent from the Elgin Settlement and Buxton Mission, a terminus of the Underground Railroad.
It’s the latest honour for Prince, who recently received the Lieutenant Governor’s Ontario Heritage Thomas Symons award for commitment to conservation.
The University of Windsor convocation ceremony takes place on Tuesday, June 14th, at 7 pm.
