Local Man in Fort McMurray So Proud To Be Canadian

Former Wallaceburg resident Craig Tucker’s home on Beacon Hill has been destroyed by the fire ravaging Fort McMurray.

Tucker is safely in Edmonton and says he wants his his family and friends in Wallaceburg to know they are okay and that he loves them very much, adding the size of the blaze is hard to imagine.

“To get a perspective on how large of an area the fires cover, think of the area from Mississauga to Burlington to Canada’s Wonderland,” said Turner. “that’s how much space they are taking up, the size of the city of Los Angeles.”

Tucker says restaurants and stores in Edmonton are refusing to accept payment from people displaced by the blaze. He said it made him proud to be a Canadian.

The best way to help is to donate to the Red Cross either online or by calling 1-800-418-1111. You can also text “REDCROSS” to 30333 to make a $5 donation.
