Local Schools Impacted by COVID-19

A number of students in Chatham-Kent won’t be heading back to school this morning, thanks to COVID-19.

The Lambton Kent District School Board has confirmed one case each in the school communities connected to Tecumseh Public School and Chatham-Kent Secondary School, although both schools remain open.

47 students were dismissed from CKSS on Friday, but Public Health says the case at Tecumseh doesn’t impact the school itself, and no students or staff are being quarantined.

This is on top of a previously reported case affecting two intermediate classes at McNaughton Avenue Public School dating back to October 28th.

On the Lambton side of the board, a case of the virus has also surfaced within the Riverview Central School community in Port Lambton, however Lambton Public Health doesn’t feel there is any impact to the school and no staff or students have been dismissed.

Right now, no schools within the St Clair Catholic District School Board are reporting any cases of COVID-19.
