Public high school teachers across Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton are casting ballots today as a contract dispute with the province drag on.

Jennifer Kumpf is the president of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation District 10, and says today’s central strike vote is all part of the natural bargaining process.

“Strike votes are a demonstration of our members commitment and resolve to get a fair deal at the bargaining table  we continue to be at the bargaining table as an organization and the best solution for everyone is a fairly negotiated settlement.”

The local chapter represents the equivalent of 600 full time high school teachers in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton.

Results of province-wide votes are expected within the next week or so.
