Public Educator Whitney Burk says the local program which works to raise awareness about the importance of smoke detectors and home escape plans, was recently mentioned in the provincial legislature.
“During the third annual carbon monoxide awareness week, MPP Ernie Hardeman referred to the Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services team and the hard work we’ve been doing,” says Burk. “We just came up with a way of marketing and implementing it in the community that was going to be the best for everybody involved.
Burk, who helped to create the program, says over the past few months fire fighters have provided inspections at five times as many homes across Chatham-Kent as they did the year before.
