Lord Selkirk Bridge Closed Due To Mechanical Issue

Mechanical issues have forced the municipality to close the Lord Selkirk Bridge in Wallaceburg.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent announced late Wednesday afternoon that the bridge on McNaughton Avenue will remain closed to vehicle traffic for public safety until further notice. The bridge will also be unable to open for marine traffic, but it will remain open for pedestrians.

Further details about what caused the mechanical issue have not been released.

A posted detour is currently in place using Base Line Road, Old Glass Road, Mason Street and Arnold Street. Motorists are asked to allow for additional travel time when moving through the area.

A timeline for reopening the bridge has not been determined, and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
