Lord Selkirk Bridge Reopens Ahead of Schedule

Good news for drivers in Wallaceburg, the Lord Selkirk Bridge has reopened ahead of schedule.

The McNaughton Avenue span was closed on Wednesday, September 2 due to mechanical issues and was not expected to reopen until September 25.

While the bridge was closed and traffic was being detoured, municipal crews used the opportunity to remove the abandoned railway tracks on McNaughton Avenue repave the roadway.

While vehicles are now able to cross the span, it will remain inoperable for any marine traffic that needs the bridge to open in order to pass down the Sydenham River.

There’s no word at this point on when final repairs will be made.
