A local man has been charged after allegedly pulling a machete on a woman during a domestic incident in Wallaceburg.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the man went to the woman’s Emily Street home Sunday morning shortly before 8 a.m. to retrieve some personal belongings.
An argument between the two turned physical and the man allegedly brandished a machete and began tapping the woman on the head.
The woman was able to leave and find safety, police said.
Officers were called to the scene and located the 47-year-old accused in the backyard of the home. The Wallaceburg man was arrested and is now charged with assault with a weapon and failing to comply with a release order which prohibited him from possessing weapons. He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
