Making Accessibility A Priority

handicapA number of awards have been handed out to recognize those who help to make Chatham-Kent more accessible to everyone.

Each year the Chatham-Kent Accessibility Advisory Committee presents awards to one person who has been an advocate for accessibility and one business that is accessible for all.

This year’s recipients are para-athlete Ryan VanPraet for his dedication to the “Trust your Buddy” accessible recreation program, and the Dutch Market, for exceptional customer service to people of all abilities.

As well, the late Sid Ebare is being given the Perseverance Award, which is named in his honour. The Chatham man, who suffered from Muscular Dystrophy, passed away in 2015.
