Making Chatham-Kent More Accessible for Everyone

Municipal officials are praising those who adapt to meet the needs of everyone in the community.

Three honours have been handed out for the 2020 Accessibility Awards.

Foodland in Tilbury received the “Dr. Veronica Vaughan Most Accessible Business Award” for creating a facility to serve people of all abilities, providing accessible customer service and assisting people during the COVID-19 pandemic. Foodland also provides employment for people of all abilities.

Terry Jenkins was awarded the “Sheila Lindsey-Powers Accessibility Advocate Award” for her continuous dedication to helping people of all ages by offering programs targeting mental health and anxiety issues.

The “Sid Ebare Perseverance Award” was awarded to Ricky Lindsay for his hard work and dedication as a volunteer with New Beginnings Brain Injury Association. Ricky volunteers his time 1-2 days a week, helping with tech classes and socialization.
