Making Year End Special for Students

With just two weeks of virtual learning left, plans are in the works to give students something special to wrap up what’s been a very challenging school year.

John Howitt, Director of Education for the Lambton Kent District School Board, want to make sure other kids go out with a bang as well.

“Many of the homerooms will be coming together to do a soccer-baseball game or share freezies or some sort of activity up to 90 minutes,” Howitt says.

Each school will schedule classes for time on either Thursday, June 24; Friday, June 25; or Monday, June 28th.

The St Clair Catholic District School Board has similar plans in the works for elementary students.

“We are currently planning to look at the end of year, we need to drop off devices, pick up personal items, report cards, and we’re looking for opportunities for our students to come back to their school,” Director of Education Deb Crawford says.

The local boards have already got plans in place for graduating students to have some sort of drive-by or virtual ceremony to mark the end of the year.
