A Chatham man is facing charges after allegedly threatening his partner with an axe.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to an address in Ridgetown just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday regarding a threat complaint.
Authorities conducted an investigation and learned that a man had allegedly threatened to break a woman’s legs and burn her with hot coffee between October 21 and 23. It was also learned that the man had allegedly threatened to use an axe to harm his partner while holding it in a threatening manner.
As a result, a 46-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and one count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was later released from custody with conditions and a December court date.
