Man Arrested Again Following Theft

An alleged thief is behind bars after his second arrest in as many weeks.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a theft complaint at a store on Grand Avenue West in Chatham at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.

After arriving, police learned that a man had stolen merchandise and left through the store’s rear exit before fleeing on a bicycle.

A suspect was located and arrested on Robertson Avenue a short time later. The man had previously been arrested on December 29, 2025, following a previous theft incident.

The 39-year-old Chatham man is now charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, and failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused was taken to the Southwest Regional Detention Centre to await his next video court appearance later this week.
