A local man is in custody after a snowplow operator was verbally accosted while trying to clear the roadway in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a man began screaming, swearing and impeding the ability of a municipal worker to clear snow on Fourth Street, on Friday at around 1:30 p.m.
When the plow operator attempted to drive away, the man continued to follow the vehicle and strike the cab window.
Officers responded to the disturbance and arrested a 41-year-old Chatham man for breach of the peace. He was taken to police headquarters, where he allegedly caused damage to property inside the booking area.
As a result, the accused has been charged with mischief under $5,000. He was remanded into custody at the South West Detention Centre to await his next court appearance later this week.
