A local man is facing charges after a woman was threatened at knife-point in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a section of Grand Avenue West shortly before 9 a.m. on Friday regarding a weapons-related incident.
According to authorities, a 54-year-old woman was in her vehicle when she was approached by a man wielding a pocket knife. The man made threats toward the woman before stabbing the driver’s side door of her vehicle and leaving the area.
Officers quickly located a suspect on Ursuline Avenue, where he was arrested.
The 31-year-old Chatham man is now charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, and mischief under $5,000. He was later released with conditions and a September court date.
