Man Charged After Leaving Dog in Vehicle

A Chatham man is facing charges, accused of leaving his dog in a parked car.

A concerned resident called police yesterday morning to report the animal had been left in the sweltering heat.

The 58-year-old owner has now been charged with leaving an animal unattended in a motor vehicle, and could face a $365 fine if convicted.

Anyone who spots an animal left unattended in a vehicle can call police, animal control at PAWR at 226-996-9969 or the Ontario SPCA cruelty hotline at 310-7722.
