Man Charged After Pregnant Woman Assaulted

Charges have been laid after a pregnant woman was assaulted at her home in Wallaceburg.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a West Court address at around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday to find a pregnant woman visibly upset and in medical distress. Paramedics also attended the scene.

Authorities said that when the woman had opened the door to her apartment, a man forcibly grabbed her, threw her to the ground and began assaulting her. Following the attack, the woman was able to crawl back into the apartment to call for help.

As a result, a 28-year-old Dresden man was located and arrested. He has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
