
A local man has been charged following a robbery at Chatham businesses.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to the incident at an unidentified business on McNaughton Avenue West at around 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
Authorities said a man took alcohol from the shelves and attempted to leave without paying. The man also threatened an employee who had confronted the thief while exiting.
Police located and arrested a suspect a short time later at a residence in Chatham. Further information about the location of the arrest has not been provided.
A 24-year-old Chatham man is now charged with theft under $5,000, robbery, and two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000.
