Allegedly drunk dialling police in Chatham-Kent has resulted in charges for an Etobicoke man.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said several 911 calls were made by a man Wednesday night, prompting officers to conduct a well-being check at around 9:15 p.m.

Officers responded to Erie Street in Merlin and following a search, located the man sitting in a bush next to a shed in the backyard of a residence.

The man allegedly refused to step out of the bush and was uncooperative with the officers. He was eventually arrested and taken to police headquarters.

The 37-year-old accused is now charged with resisting arrest and being intoxicated in a public place. He held until he was sober and released with a September court date.
