The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is issuing a recall for Maple Leaf Brand Chicken Strips.

According to the CFIA, boxes of chickens strips with a best before date of September 29th 2018 may be contaminated with Staphylococcus bacteria.

The toxin produced by the bacteria doesn’t cause the meat to look or smell spoiled, and is not easily destroyed at high temperatures.

The CFIA says symptoms of Staphylococcus poisoning are nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping and fever. Severe cases may cause headache, muscle cramping, and changes in blood pressure and pulse rate.

The product affected is the 840g size of Maple Leaf Chicken Breast Strips with a best before date of 2018 SE 29 and a UPC code of 0 63100 03089 6.

The CFIA says to throw out any boxes matching the information above or return to to the store where it was purchased.
