It’s a day for the history books – marijuana is now legal in Canada.
At the stroke of midnight, cannabis became fully legalized in Canada. However, there are a number of restrictions that are being put into effect.
In Ontario, the legal age is 19 to buy, use, possess, and grow recreational cannabis. Smoking or vaping will not be allowed in public places, such as schools, workplaces, hospitals, and enclosed public spaces.
According to the Cannabis Act, smoking marijuana while operating a motor vehicles or boat is also prohibited.
Today also marks the day that the Ontario Cannabis Store goes live, the only legal option for purchasing recreational cannabis right now.
The only other country where marijuana is completely legal nationwide is Uruguay.
