Local residents jumped into action after a masked man was spotted peering into a Chatham home.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called about a suspicious person on Woods Street on Wednesday shortly before 11 p.m.
Concerned neighbours in the area saw a man peering through the windows of a residence while dressed in all black clothing and wearing a mask.
The residents detained the man on the front lawn until police arrived.
As a result, a 30-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and is now charged with trespassing at night. He was later released from custody with a July court date.
