Massive Housing Development in the Works

The largest housing development project in Chatham-Kent in the last forty years is taking shape on the south side of the city of Chatham.

Local builder, Maple City Homes is taking on a project to build almost 380 homes in a development the likes of which have not been seen since the 1970s.

“We know that there is a lack of housing in the Chatham-Kent area,” says Robb Nelson, President of Maple City Homes. “We are fulfilling a pent up demand of local buyers. Chatham-Kent is growing fast, we are attracting young families, retirees, and commuters, but we need to have quality, affordable housing available to retain these new citizens.”

The project will be undertaken near Bloomfield Rd off of Park Ave. Phase one will see 93 private homes built.

The project is expected to push $30-million into the local economy.
