Massive Job Fair Today

For the third year, the CK Works Community Job Fair is back.

At least 70 employers will be on site at the Bradley Convention Centre this afternoon hiring for a variety of sectors.

With an unemployment rate in Chatham-Kent of 5.5%, it’s a tight job market for companies looking for suitable employees.

Lisa McAllister, who works for the St. Clair College Employment Centre, said she has seen the job market change dramatically in Chatham-Kent in the past 18 months.

“We went from really scraping, trying to find places for our clients to find employment, to now I have employers and I’m saying we just don’t have enough candidates or the right candidates for you.”

McAllister says events like the CK Works! Job Fair provide an opportunity to bring job seekers and employers together to fill positions and also learn from one another when it comes to training opportunities and other job options down the road.

The event runs from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the John D Bradley Centre.
