Chatham-Kent is inviting job seekers to brush off their resumes and take part in a municipal-wide career fair.

The Learning, Earning, and Living CK Career Expo and Job Fair takes place on Wednesday at the Bradley Convention Centre from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., with more than 50 employers expected to be in attendance.

CK Mayor Darrin Canniff said the municipality is hoping to target the youth of the community who are looking for a job locally.

“We’re opening it up for youth and doing various training sessions and showing them what opportunities there are in Chatham-Kent,” he said.

Wednesday’s job fair will feature prospective employers in a variety of fields, including health care, agriculture, manufacturing and other in-demand sectors.

Canniff said when he asks local students if they want to stay in Chatham-Kent, many say they don’t because of a lack of job opportunities.

“When you get younger students and they’re starting to formulate where they want to go, they [should] get excited about Chatham-Kent. There’s a ton of job opportunities out there,” he said. “We’re going to show them how many exciting opportunities there are right here in Chatham-Kent.”

Those attending the fair are encouraged to bring their resume to apply for jobs on the spot.
