Mayor, New Council To Be Sworn In

Chatham-Kent will mark the beginning of a new four-year term of council with an inauguration of the municipality’s newly elected councillors and mayor.

An inaugural ceremony will be held at the Capitol Theatre at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and will be open to the public.

Darrin Canniff will be sworn in for his second term as mayor by Justice of the Peace Calvin Hurst, followed by the 17 members of municipal council.

Local members of Parliament David Epp and Lianne Rood, along with local members of provincial Parliament Trevor Jones and Monte McNaughton, will be on hand to provide remarks.

Mayor Canniff will then deliver his inaugural address to close out the ceremony.

Chatham-Kent’s mayor and council will hold their first official meeting for the 2022-2026 term on Monday, November 21.
