Carmen McGregor officially kicked off her campaign with a launch party last at the Black Goose in downtown Wallaceburg.
The incumbent Ward Five candidate says water is on her mind as she vies for a second term on council.
“I think the emerging issue for me is the water level and the criteria of the Sydenham River and having that changed,” McGregor says. “That criteria was set almost 50 years ago, and I know when you close the dam it makes it more difficult for farmers, but we have to figure out some proper restitution for farmers if that’s what we’re going to do.
McGregor also feels additional training for our youth will keep many in the community.
“Everybody says oh there are no jobs here, but there are a ton of jobs unfilled here in Wallaceburg and Chatham-Kent, but we don’t have the proper training for jobs, and that makes it very difficult.”
McGregor says she hopes to retain her seat in Council Chambers and be a mentor to whomever fills outgoing councillor Jeff Wesley’s position.
Others on the ballot for Ward Five are Aaron Hall, Nick Cadotte and Randy McNeil
