A warning to local residents who may have received treatment at the Chatham Skin Clinic.
Chatham-Kent Public Health has identified lapses in the sterilization and reprocessing of medical equipment at the dermatologist office on Keil Drive South between October 1, 2024 and January 30, 2026.
Officials say such lapses in infection control processes for procedures such as skin biopsies and cosmetic treatments may be associated with the transmission of blood borne illnesses including HIV and Hepatitis
Anyone who has undergone a procedural treatment at the Chatham Skin Clinic during this time frame is urged to contact their primary care provider or visit a walk-in clinic for assessment.
Dr. Queenette Emem Asuquo, the physician practicing at the Chatham Skin Clinic, is also available to address any questions.
