One key point brought up multiple times by Colby is that Covid 19 test results are only a snapshop of that exact moment on a persons status with the virus. He says it’s a risky decision to take this as a chance to drop your guard.
“If a person got covid it’s going to be at least 4 days before their test comes back positive regardless whether they are showing symptoms or not.”
He also stressed that the idea of neighbouring municipalities using Chatham Kent facilities during their higher restrictions should not be supported…
“Those are residents in a red zone and they need to stop thinking about how can we keep doing what we want to do through some sort of loophole by moving to another jurisdiction.”
Chatham Kent CAO Don Shropshire responded that he doesn’t want this type of business from those areas due to their regions restrictions.
“On the one hand you can’t restrict travel. But on the other hand we aren’t wanting to offer opportunities for travelling especially when they come from areas of higher risk”.
