A community health care group is expanding its services for temporary foreign workers in Chatham-Kent.

Through support and funding from Ontario Health, the Chatham Kent Community Health Centres (CKCHC) will be expanding its Primary Health Care team to provide primary care to temporary foreign workers at more farms across the municipality.

Previously, the team could only provide health care services at two local farms.

“Our team has had wonderful success in reducing barriers to access to care for Temporary Foreign Workers,” said Mallory Nowakowski, Clinical and Client Services Manager at CKCHC, in a news release. “By providing onsite care, we have reduced emergency room visits and provided early intervention to prevent serious health
concerns.”

The Primary Health Care team, which is comprised of a nurse practitioner, a registered practical nurse, and a health promoter, is equipped to provide medical assessments for acute needs, prescription renewals, health education, and more. The team also provides health presentations and influenza vaccination clinics during flu season.
