A recent golf tournament is helping to support seniors in need in Chatham-Kent.
The 4th Annual Working the Iron tournament in memory of Henry Heyink was held on Thursday, September 3 at the Links of Kent Golf Club.
Rain wreaked havoc on the course, but did not dampen the spirits of the 144 golfers involved. Organizers say the tournament represented Heyink’s love of golf and continued his legacy of giving back to the community.
The event raised $72,571, which is being donated to FreeHelpCK. Officials with the local non-profit say the funds will be used to support its Seniors Hope Meals and Adopt a Senior programs, providing support and home-cooked meals to older adults across the community.
