Money For Mental Health

health careThe province is investing an extra $10-million for behavioral supports for patients with dementia and mental health issues.

Shannon Sasseville with the Erie St Clair Local Health Integration Network says close to 600-thousand of that will benefit services in Chatham-Kent.

The money is geared towards enhance existing services and hire specialized staff.

“That’s one of the things with working with people with Alzheimers and dementia, they are unique they have different life experiences like we all dos o that   a standard cookie cutter approach doesn’t work for everybody,” says Sasseville. “So getting staff the training they need and that resources are available is really important.”

Sasseville says the top priority is giving patients a level of dignity and respect while providing both the patients and caregivers are safe.
