Drivers in Wallaceburg have become used to construction on the town’s bridges, and that’s not about to change any time soon.
In an update to council this week, the municipality’s Manager of Engineering says more work is needed on the hydraulic pumps that operate the Base Line Bridge this year, although the span is expected to remain open to traffic while repairs are being done.
Looking a little further down the road, plans are in the works for a full rehabilitation of the Murray Street Bridge, with the design phase expected to start in either 2022 or 2023.
Officials are also preparing for rehabilitation of the Dundas Bridge connecting James Street to Margaret Avenue, between the library and the Legion. That’s expected to happen sometime in the next four years.
