More COVID Patients in Hospitals Province-Wide

Hospitals across Ontario are reporting a nearly two-month high when it comes to the number of COVID patients receiving treatment, whether for the virus itself or being treated for another ailment and also have COVID-19. 

As of Tuesday, there were 1366 patients in hospital with the virus province-wide, the highest total since mid-February. 190 of those are in intensive care.

According to Chatham-Kent Public Health’s update on Wednesday, there have been 76 new cases of the virus reported since Monday, bringing the seven-day average to 32 cases per day.

Four new COVID-19 outbreaks have been reported in Chatham-Kent since Monday, including three group homes and Copper Terrace long-term care home in Chatham. Three other outbreaks remain in effect across the municipality — Oaks Retirement Village in Wallaceburg, along with the Medicine Unit and Continuing Care Unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

At CKHA, there are 25 COVID patients who have been admitted with COVID-19, six are being treated primarily for the virus and two are in the ICU.
