More details are being released about a funding agreement between the municipality and Hydro One.
Chatham-Kent is slated to receive $1 million annually for the next 10 years from the Hydro One Community Support Agreement.
Council plans on spending that windfall on various projects throughout the community. At tonight’s council meeting, council will outline plans where each ward councillor will be provided with $25,000 every year to spend on cultural and recreational priorities in their ward on projects that satisfy Hydro One Community Support Agreement terms. The mayor will receive $125,000 to spend on projects across Chatham-Kent.
Community engagement will be performed in relation to how best to spend the funds.
