More Flooding Possible Along Lake Erie

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority is warning of flooding up and down the Lake Erie shoreline today.

The forecast is calling for strong easterly winds through this afternoon with gusts of up to 55km an hour.

That will be enough to push waves up to one meter in height and cause flooding and erosion issues along the coast.

Flooding could come to Erieau, Shrewsbury, Wheatley and other low lying areas.

Just as concerning is the safety of people near the shoreline. The waves could be strong and the shores slippery. There is also the risk of debris in the water that can cause injury when they’re thrown onto shore.

People are urged to keep back from the water’s edge and to pay attention to local conditions.
