Vaccination efforts in Chatham-Kent are ramping up once again.
Public Health says anyone who received their first COVID vaccine on or before May 9th can now book their second shot.
For those who got their first dose May 10th or beyond can schedule their next shot starting June 28th.
The latest figures from Public Health show 67% of the population 12 and older in CK have received at least one dose vaccine, while 17% are now fully vaccinated with both shots.
Meantime, advice on using the AstraZeneca vaccine has changed once again.
The National Advisory Committee on Immunization says anyone who got AZ as their first dose should switch to Pfizer or Moderna for their second shot.
NACI says new evidence is emerging, suggesting immune responses are better if an mRNA vaccine is used after a viral vector shot.
However, the agency is also trying to reassure those who’ve already received both doses with AstraZeneca that they are well protected.
