More Students Taking Part In Summer Learning

Whether earning a final credit toward their high school diploma or preparing for post-secondary education, an increasing number of local students are participating in summer learning.

According to the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB), 1,837 students took part in the board’s Summer Learning Program, an increase of 326 students from 2024.

This summer, a total of 1,500 summer students took part in the Full Course Online Learning for Grades 8-12, completing 36 courses with a 92 per cent success rate. Another 56 students completed credit recovery courses, while 49 students participated in credit rescue programs.

The Travel for Credit program saw 52 Grade 9 students successfully complete their Civics and Careers courses, which included an educational trip to Ottawa, Montreal, and New York City.

Students in Grades 10–12 were also provided hands-on opportunities during the summer months through the Co-op Program. 136 students earned co-op credits, with 110 students completing two-credit placements and 26 completing one-credit placements.
