Mother, Two Daughters Assaulted In Chatham

A Chatham man is facing multiple charges after a mother and her two daughters were assaulted.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said on Monday shortly before 7:13 p.m., a woman approached a man on Blythwood Crescent in Chatham to ask for a light for her cigarette. The man then pushed her to the ground.

The woman’s two daughters witnessed the assault and attempted to intervene. The man struck one of the daughters in the face with his hand, causing her to fall to the ground. He then pushed the other daughter, knocking her to the ground as well.

Officers responded to the disturbance and a 34-year-old Chatham was located and arrested. He is now charged with three counts of assault. The man was later released with conditions and a future court date.
