The 9th annual Moustache Memorial Golf tournament gets underway at Willow Ridge Golf Course later this morning.
Organizer Chris McLeod says all proceeds stay in Chatham-Kent.
“There’s the Canadian Cancer Society Wheels of Hope which provides rides to cancer patients to get to and from their appointments, there’s Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Oncology Patient Parking Program which pays for parking for oncology patients at the Health Alliance, which we get a lot of great response from that, and the Chatham-Kent Hospice. So three charities, and all that money stays local.”
The tournament was initially put together as a way for McLeod to reconnect with friends of his late brother Nik, who succumbed to Leukemia 10 years ago.
Last year’s tournament raised $10,000. With registration fees, sponsors, and an online auction, McLeod is hoping this year’s event will top $15,000.
